PURPOSE: To simplify and make small the optical system, by reading in the color information on the original plane according to the rotation of a drum having a photodetector in the inside and a color separation filter on the circumferential surface.
CONSTITUTION: An original on a glass original stand 104 is illuminated with a light source 110, the video information of the original is formed in the plane of an internal photodetector 109 through a rotating drum 111 having a plurality of color separation filters with an image forming lens 108 via a mirror 107. The main scanning direction of the detector 109 is vertical to paper, and when the original moves on a glass original stand 104 and a signal from the photodetector of the detector 109 is read out, a sequential signal which raster-scans the original plane can be obtained from the photodetector 109.
