PURPOSE: To improve the yield of dye formation in a color developing stage and to form a heat-and light-resistant color image by manufacturing a color photographic sensitive material contg. a specified magenta coupler in its photographic layer.
CONSTITUTION: A magenta coupler represented by formula I [where Ar is phenyl having halogen, alkyl or other substituent; R is halogen, cyano, a group represented by formula II (where A is alkylene, oxygen, imino or the like, and B is hydroxy, hydrogen, hydrazono or the like) or the like; R1 is H, halogen, alkylthio or the like; Y is acylamino or anilino; and m is 1W4], e.g., a compound represented by formula III is incorporated into a silver halide emulsion layer by about 2×10-3W5×10-1mol per 1mol silver.
