To obtain a color resist dying size to be used in brush dyeing process and to provide such a brush dyeing process enabling color classification between ground color and pattern color without mediating any white bordering one so as to obtain a pattern-dyed product bearing a colored dot pattern.

This color resist dying size for brush dyeing process is obtained by incorporating 0.003-0.006 pts.wt. of urea in 100 pts.wt. of a color size prepared by using a dye selected from the group consisting of acid dye, direct dye and metal complex dye and a paste comprising rice cake powder and rice bran. When this color size is used, a pattern-dyed product can be obtained by such a process as the draw a pattern with this color resist dyeing size followed by drying and a ground dyeing color size 11 is applied so as to directly cover the size layers 3-8 of this color resist dyeing size. The urea served to prevent the dye in this color resist dyeing size from being leached into the ground dyeing color size along with preventing pattern staining due to the ground dyeing color size in the steaming process, thus enabling resist dyeing and pattern coloring in a signal step.
