Abstract:
PURPOSE: To realize color printing with high efficiency at a low cost by a constitution wherein plural systems of winding mechanisms each independently winds an ink ribbon of respective plural ink ribbon cartridges corresponding to the respective systems are provided.
CONSTITUTION: A power of a stepping motor 30 is transmitted to a gear 37 via a pinion gear 31 and gear 27 in this order, then the gear 37 is rotated in the direction of ribbon winding. As a result, ink ribbons of ink ribbon cartridges 17 in plural systems are simultaneously wound by a ribbon winding mechanism RD. When starting the winding of the ink ribbons, thermal transfer printing by a thermal head 14 is simultaneously started. At the same time, rotation of each gear 37 of the respective system is detected by an encoder 25, then a control section detects the number of revolutions of the gear 37 based on the detection signal. This operation is continuously repeated until completion of the printing, the control section thereby detects the number of revolutions of the gear 37 that rotates until completion of the whole printing.
