Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain colored spacers for a liq. crystal display panel ensuring a uniform gap, not bleeding a colorant and impurities originating from the colorant and less liable to leak light by incorporating colored resin particles contg. carbon black surface-treated with a polymer. SOLUTION: The colored spacers contain colored resin particles contg. carbon black surface-treated with a polymer. The carbon black used is not particularly limited but carbon black having functional groups such as carboxyl or hydroxyl groups, in particular carboxyl groups is preferably used because it is liable to react with the polymer. Any of furnace black, channel black, acetylene black, etc., may be used. The polymer is not particularly limited if it has functional groups capable of reacting with the functional groups of the carbon black.
