Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multicolor hollow pattern coating composition which can form a coating film which is multicolored and is smooth to touch though it has spotted hollows. SOLUTION: This composition forms a coating film surface consisting of a major proportion of a smooth surface originated from a medium and a relatively regular-shaped hollow pattern part originated from a vehicle. The medium is the one regulated so that the volume change occurring in the period from coating to drying may be as small as possible, desirably, the one prepared by adding balloons and an extender pigment to a synthetic emulsion. The vehicle is the one undergoing a volume change larger than that of the medium in the period from coating to drying, desirably, colored hydrated gel particles and/or transparent colored hydrated gel particles, more particularly, fibrous and/or raindrop-like particles. More particularly, they are particles obtained by the gelation of a mixture of an aqueous gellan gum solution and/or an aqueous sodium alginate solution with a synthetic resin emulsion. The above synthetic resin emulsion comprises at least one member selected from the group consisting of a synthetic resin acrylic emulsion, a synthetic resin acrylic silicone copolymer emulsion, and a synthetic resin acrylic urethane copolymer emulsion.
