PURPOSE: To give clear feeling when a control lever is steered, by interposing in a control rod a check mechanism which checks altertion of the range of a manual valve, and disposing the check mechanism in the vicinity of the lever.

CONSTITUTION: A steering column 1 is equipped with a control rod 3 and a control lever 4. A check mechanism 17 is so attached to the control rod 3 at the middle as to encircle it. The check mechanism 17 consists of a check ball 21, a spring 19 and a corrugated board 17aWf. The length of the corrugated board 17aWf depends on travel in the axial directions (x), (y) of the control rod 3. The check mechanism is placed in the vicinity of the control lever 4, thereby providing better feeling.
