PURPOSE: To simplify the constitution of the column for a gas chromatograph for uniforming the tempeature distribution by providing filler in the groove formed on one or both of a pair of slabs, and joining them together to form the column.

CONSTITUTION: In the initial portion of a groove 1a, a hole 1b communicated with a sample inlet port on the under surface of a slab 1 is provided. A through hole 2a is provided on a gasket 2 so as to be opposed to the end portion 1c of the groove 1a. A through hole 3a is provided on a base slab 3 of metal so as to be opposed to the hole 2a. The groove 1a, which is for forming the first column, is provided with filler to form a stationary phase. The slab 1 is fixed to the base 3 through the gasket 2 by using screws or the like. Another slab 4, whose groove 4a for forming the second column is provided with filler, is also fixed to the base 3 through the gasket 2. The constitution permits the column to be compact and the passage volume of piping to be minimized, so that a column having a uniform temperature distribution can be obtained.
