A shift link plate 12 is arranged in a position close to the most vehicle rear side among a constitutive part of a column shift lever operation device 1 so as to turn the surface to the vehicle rear side. The shift link plate 12 is installed in the main body part 11 through a fixing pin 13, and can rotate around the fixing pin 13. A cam hole 14, the engaging part 15 continuously forming a recess/projection, a pin 16 for connecting a shift operation transmitting cable C, a rib 17 and the rupturing hole parts 18a, 18b are arranged in the shift link plate 12. The shift link plate 12 ruptures from a place forming the rupturing hole parts 18a, 18b when a load not less than a prescribed value acts in the thickness direction of the shift link plate 12 on the rib 17 to thereby reduce an impact load acting on a driver.
