Abstract:
PURPOSE: To detect a chemical seed for changing electroconductance with a high sensitivity by providing a micro column in cylindrical pipe shape with a diameter of approximately 25-200μm and an on-column-type electroconductance electrode that forms a boundary on at least the same plane with the wall part. CONSTITUTION: A tube 10 is filled with an electroconductive liquid 11 and a cation 12 is contained in a wall part. The cation 12 attracts an anion 13 from the liquid and forms an electrical double layer 13. As a result, the body of the liquid 11 is electrified by a net excessive positive electric charge. Therefore, when a potential of for example 30KV is applied between electrodes 15 and 16 located at both edge parts of the column of the liquid 11, the liquid 11 moves toward the cathode 16. A chemical species 18 of cation in the liquid 11 is attracted by the cathode 16 by cataphoresis and the chemical seed 19 of anion is repelled by the cathode 16. When, for example, the chemical species 18 and 19 pass between detectors made of electrodes 21 and 22, they are measured between the electrodes 21 and 22, thus changing the electroconductive characteristics that depend on the difference between a background and a sample. The diameter of the electrodes 21 and 22 is approximately 0.01-0.75 (especially 0.60) times the inner diameter of the tube 10.
