PURPOSE: To improve construction efficiency by forming a stepped section on the surface of the column head and the base of a wooden column, said surf ace having dimensions corresponding to the height of structure of a lateral member, and placing a joint squared log provided with a joint part for joining the lateral member at the side of said stepped section.

CONSTITUTION: A stepped section 11 is formed within a range corresponding to the positions for mounting lateral members 3,4 at the head and base of a wooden column 1. A joint squared log 2 on which joint parts 21,22 for joining the members 3,4 and a joint squared log 2' provided with a joint part 21' are placed at the side of the section 11 and fixed thereto to form a column for a wooden framing structure. Joint ends 31, 41 of the members 3, 4 for the joint parts 21,22,21' formed on the logs 2,2' according to a beam plan are integrally coupled on the ground and erected on a base or foundation. As a result, processing and installation can be made easier, resulting in improved work efficiency.
