PURPOSE: To provide a columnar band sawing machine capable of easily removing a material after cutting out of a line only by adding simple structure but without using a shop facility such as an overhead travelling crane and without setting a special instrument in the periphery of the band sawing machine.

CONSTITUTION: A material handling mechanism H to move a material W by way of holding it is provided on the top part of a column 2a to support a saw frame 3. The material handling mechanism H is furnished with a support body 11 free to revolve around a vertical axis as its center on the top part of the column 2a, a first arm 13 free to revolve on a vertical surface around a fulcrum 12 as its center on the support body 11, a second arm 15 supported free to revolve along the vertical surface on the head end part of the first arm 13, an electromagnet 16 installed on the head end of the second arm 15 and an actuator 20 to compensate balance of the first arm 13.
