Abstract:

To provide a lubricating oil composition or the like usable in low sulfur fuel system for fitting to the environmental problem and oil requirement prospective in the future.

The lubricating oil composition which is used in an internal combustion engine operated by a fuel containing <50 ppm of sulfur, contains at least a detergent comprising metal, and the total ash content of the lubricating oil composition based on the total mass of the composition, is <1.0 mass.% for the formulation for a diesel engine and <0.7 mass.% for the formulation for a gasoline engine.
