PURPOSE: To improve the sliding characteristic of sliding bodies by adopting a combination in which a fiber reinforced light alloy member is used for a 1st sliding body and an iron member provided with an Ni plating layer contg. hard particles is used for the 2nd sliding body.
CONSTITUTION: The part around the cylinder bore 3 of a cylinder block 1 of an internal combustion engine E, etc., which cylinder is cast by using a light alloy such as Al alloy, is constituted of a cylindrical fiber reinforced part C1 consisting of reinforcing fibers and Al alloy matrix. This cylinder block 1 is the 1st sliding body. Compression rings 61, 62 and oil ring 63 are cast by using the iron members and the Ni plating layer 8 contg. the hard particles 7 is provided over the entire surface of the respective rings 61, 63 including the outer peripheral faces to slide with the cylinder bore 3. Such rings are the 2nd sliding body. The Ni plating layer of the 2nd sliding body has excellent wear resistance and has the function to suppress the wear in the sliding part of the 1st sliding body.
