Title:
COMBINED MATERIAL HAVING HIGH HARDNESS FOR TOOL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3866305
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a combined material with high hardness for tool having extremely improved cutting properties, abrasion resistance and fracture resistance and a life much longer than that of a conventional tool by forming a hard heat-resistant coating film having a specific composition on the surface of a base comprising a CBN sintered material or a diamond sintered material.
CONSTITUTION: In a combined material with high hardness for tool having a base 2 comprising a CBN sintered material containing ≥20vol.% boron nitride of cubic system or a diamond sintered material containing ≥40vol.% of diamond, the material is provided with the following constitution. Namely, at least one layer of a hard heat-resistant coating film 1 consisting essentially of at least one element selected from C, N and O and Ti and Al is formed at a place participating in at least cutting. For example, a compound having a composition of the formula (TixAl1-x)N (0.3 ≤ x ≤ 0.5) is preferable as the hard heat-resistant coating film. The film thickness of the hard heat-resistant coating film is preferably 0.5-15μm. The combined material is optionally provided with an intermediate layer 3 or a surface layer 4.
