To reduce particulate and NOx in emission gas by performing high temperature combustion using emission gas from a heat engine, such as a diesel engine and a gas turbine and another fuel.
While a diesel engine 1 drives a power generator 2, emission gas of about 350°C discharged from the diesel engine 1 is led to a pre-heater 3 through an exhaust pipe 8. In the preheater 3, the emission gas is heated to about 1,000°C by means of combustion gas of about 1,200°C introduced from a combustor 4. The heated emission gas is fed to the combustor 4 so as to burn another fuel by using oxygen in the emission gas. In this process, if it is under a high temperature condition of 1,000°C or more, combustion can be stably carried out even at an oxygen concentration of 13%, such as that in the emission gas because it is in a high temperature air combustion area, so that high temperature reduction combustion is carried out stably in the combustor 4. By such a high temperature reduction combustion, NOx in the emission gas is decomposed, and consequently NOx in the emission gas (combustion gas) fed from the combustor 4 to the pre-heater 3 can be reduced.
