This apparatus has an electric heater 17 to heat a liquid fuel up to a temperature at which boiling under reduced pressure occurs during the injection period from a fuel injection valve 4 while keeping the liquid fuel to be supplied to the fuel injection valve 4 from boiling under a pressurized condition with a fuel pump 2, and a mixing chamber 20 is arranged on the downstream side of the fuel injection valve 4 to effect an inflow of the fuel injected from the fuel injection valve 4 and boiled under a reduced pressure into the mixing chamber 20 while combustion air from an air injection nozzle 21 flows thereinto. In the mixing chamber 20, the fuel is mixed with the air to form a mixed gas. Moreover, a combustion chamber 28 is arranged on the downstream side of the mixing chamber 20 and is provided with an ignition plug 31 to ignite the mixed gas from the mixing chamber 20.
