PURPOSE: To prevent a surplus flame produced when combustion rate is rapidly changed from low to high, and generation of CO, soot and odor as well by forming two or more slits on the periphery of a wick between the lower end of a suction portion, that is connected with the lower end of an evaporation portion of the wick, and the liquid level.
CONSTITUTION: Two or more slits 1c are formed on the periphery of a wick between the lower end of a suction portion 1b, that is connected with the lower end of an evaporation portion 1a of the wick 1, and the fuel level l. 1d shows threads that connects the evaporation portion 1a and the suction portion 1b, and 1e an external tape for reinforcement. Thus, the provision of two or more slits causes a reduction in the sectional area for oil sucking, so that oil sucking rate is reduced resulting in restraining of evaporation rate. Therefore, a surplus flame is prevented because an instantaneous rapid increase in the evaporation rate is prevented when combustion rate is changed from low to high, and also generation of CO, soot, and odor is prevented because a lifting flame due to lack of air and mixing is not produced.
