Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make weight balance favorable and prevent a phenomenon such as oscillation from generating by providing a recessed part having nearly rectangular bottom face on the top face of a piston, and forming the recessed part so as to leave vertical wall parts connected to the top face of the piston for generating squish flow on both ends of the recessed part in the slap direction.
SOLUTION: In an internal combustion engine in which the cylinder head is provided with for example two intake ports generating reverse tumble flow, and injectors are arranged on these intake ports side, the top face 8a of the piston 8 is formed with a recessed part 28 directed in the slap direction connecting the intermediate part position of a pair of intake valves to the intermediate part position of a pair of exhaust valves, and having nearly rectangular bottom face 28x. This recessed part 28 is formed so as to leave vertical wall parts connected to the top face 8a for generating squish flow on both ends of the recessed part 28 in the slap direction, namely on the intake side end parts and the exhaust side end parts. Further flow regulating ribs 30-1, 30-2 are projectingly provided on both side positions sandwiching the recessed part 28 along the directional direction of the recessed part 28.
