Abstract:
To improve the performance of mixing fuel and air in a combustion chamber of an engine.SOLUTION: A passage formation member 9 is provided in a combustion chamber for allowing the passage of fuel spray injected from an injection hole of a fuel injection nozzle. The passage formation member 9 has a sectionally circular and straight passage 23 having an inlet 21 into which the fuel spray flows and an outlet 22 out of which the fuel spray is jetted to the peripheral wall of the combustion chamber. The passage 23 includes an upstream side passage part 23a whose passage diameter is gradually reduced at a fixed reduction rate as extending to the outlet 22, and a downstream side passage part 23b whose passage diameter ranging from the downstream end of the upstream side passage part 23a to the outlet 22 is gradually reduced at a fixed reduction rate. The passage diameter reduction rate of the downstream side passage part 23b is smaller than the passage diameter reduction rate of the upstream side passage part 23a.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
