Abstract:
To improve the performance of mixing fuel and air in a combustion chamber of an engine.SOLUTION: A passage formation member 11 is provided in a combustion chamber for allowing the passage of fuel spray injected from an injection hole of a fuel injection nozzle. The passage formation member 11 has a sectionally circular and straight passage 27 having an inlet 25 into which the fuel spray flows and an outlet 26 out of which the fuel spray is jetted to the peripheral wall of the combustion chamber. The passage 27 includes an upstream side passage part 27a whose passage diameter is gradually reduced at a fixed reduction rate as extending to the outlet 26, and a downstream side passage part 27b whose passage diameter ranging from the downstream end of the upstream side passage part 27a to the outlet 26 is gradually reduced at a fixed reduction rate. The passage diameter reduction rate of the downstream side passage part 27b is smaller than the passage diameter reduction rate of the upstream side passage part 27a.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
