Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable such combustion as to reduce harmful component in exhaust gas without increasing the number of an ignition gap.
CONSTITUTION: Two circumferential chambers 11, 12 having small capacity are formed on the circumferential rim part of a combustion chamber 2 and in aymmetric positions of 180 degrees while holding the center of the combustion chamber 2. Injection holes 11a to 12b for communicating respective chambers 11, 12 with the combustion chamber 2 are directed in nearly tangential line direction of the combustion chamber 2, and the injection holes 11a, 11b are faced in direction opposite to the injection holes 12a and 12b. When ignition gaps 21, 22 provided in the circumferential chambers 11, 12 are ignited, flame generated in the circumferential chambers 11, 12 is injected strongly from the injection holes 11a to 12b into the combustion chamber 2, and annular flame enclosing the combusiton chamber 2 is formed in a period when combustion is carried out rapidly. It is thus possible to reduce a flame area in an early stage.
