Title:
COMBUSTION CONDITION DETECTOR OF ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01170742
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enable combustion condition to be securely detected irrespective of variation in combustion configuration by providing a combustion pressure detecting sensor and combustion light sensor adjacent a combustion chamber of an engine to detect the combustion condition of engine on the basis of the outputs of both sensors. CONSTITUTION:A portion of a cylinder head 2 adjacent the central portion of a combustion chamber 4 is provided with an ignition plug 19 and a combustion pressure sensor 20 armored by said ignition plug 19, while a combustion light sensor 21 is attached to a position corresponding to the proximity of the outer periphery of combustion chamber 4 between primary and secondary intake ports. The output signals of these sensors 20, 21 together with a crank angle signal are sent to the input of a wave form processor 22 for calculating crank angles thetaPmax, thetaLmax and knock signals providing the maximum combustion pressure and combustion light to be output to a control unit 27 which judges the combustion condition in the combustion chamber 4 according to the calculated difference value theta between said crank angle thetaPmax and thetaLmax.
