Abstract:
To provide a combustion control device for an internal combustion engine which can perform changeover from a stratified charge combustion mode to a uniform combustion mode more suitably.
A combustion mode is switched from a stratified charge combustion mode to a uniform combustion mode according to an operation condition of an engine 10. In order to do this, first, an opening of an EGR valve 16 arranged in an EGR passage 15 communicating an exhaust passage 14 with an intake passage 13 is switched to the opening required by the uniform combustion mode. After delay time which is set based on an engine speed and engine load passes, the combustion mode is then switched.
