In this combustion device for the glass melting furnace provided with the fuel jetting section F for jetting the gas fuel toward an upper space of a glass melting tank inside of a furnace body along the set flame forming direction along a top face of melted glass, and an oxygen-containing gas discharging section S for discharging an oxygen-containing gas for combustion to burn the gas fuel, toward the upper space of the glass melting tank along the set flame forming direction, on a wall section of the furnace body, the fuel jetting section F is constituted to comprise upper and lower jetting holes 3 positioned at an interval in the vertical direction, and right and left jetting holes 3 positioned at an intermediate height of the upper and lower jetting holes 3 at positions to be divided to both lateral side parts of the upper and lower jetting holes 3, and a distribution ratio adjusting means is disposed to change and adjust a distribution ratio of the gas fuel jetted while being distributed from the plurality of jetting holes 3 of the fuel jetting sections F.
