Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combustion device and method capable of efficiently burning a biomass that is an inexpensive coal alternative fuel in an industrial boiler without causing slagging.
SOLUTION: The combustion device for supplying and burning the biomass 11 in a furnace body 12 comprises a burner 13 for supplying the biomass into the furnace so that a biomass 11A of large grain size is located in the center of the furnace and a biomass 11B of small grain size is around it. The biomass 11A of large grain size can be satisfactorily ignited/burnt by the radiant heat of the stable ignition flame 14 of the biomass 11B of small grain size.
