PURPOSE: To cause the ignition point of slurry fuel to be approached and kept in a stable manner, by a method wherein a flame stabilizer is formed with a diffuser cone and an impeller.
CONSTITUTION: A high-concentration coal-water slurry (CWM) burner gun 11 is provided at its forward end with a burner tip 12, and an air compartment 13 for a primary air 15 and an air compartment 14 for a secondary air 16 are disposed, in order, around the burner gun. A flame stabilizer 17, disposed on the outer periphery at the forward end of the burner gun 11, is formed with a diffuser cone 17a and an impeller 17b. CWM, sprayed through the burner tip 12 having a number of pores, forms an air flow vortex 18 in the direction of the axis of flame with the aid of the diffuser cone 17a, and a stable ignition point 19 is provided in CWM jet. Meanwhile, a whole flame, further expanded and burnt caused by ignition combustion of the CWM jet, enables maintenance of a stable whole ignition point 22 by means of a large air flow vortex 21 which is produced in a direction, extending orthogonal to the axis of flame, with the aid of the impeller 17b.
