To provide a combustion device comprising a burner for burning hydrogen of high combustion speed, performing the burning to heat a reformer to high temperature, and having superior backfire inhibiting ability even in continuous burning for a long time.
The coating of dark color is applied to a surface of the burner 32 made out of a ceramic material and mounted in a combustion device for heating the reformer of a fuel cell type power generating system. Though the ceramic is originally white, the white has low heat emissivity. By changing the surface color of the white burner 32 to the dark colors, the heat emissivity can be increased. Whereby a surface-side temperature of the burner 32 can be kept low even when the burning is continued for a long time, and the generation of backfire phenomenon can be inhibited.
