Abstract:

To reduce or eliminate a stall of an engine by a too-thick air-fuel mixture of fuel and air when starting the engine, while reducing a shock transmitted to a driver via a pull-cord in an engine starting process.

This pull-starter is applied to starting of an internal combustion engine, and has a reaction pulley and a movable shock absorbing mechanism. The movable shock absorbing mechanism has a movable shock absorbing member, a reaction part, and a biasing member of the shock absorbing member. The biasing member biases the movable shock absorbing member to a resting position by operatively engaging with the movable shock absorbing mechanism. A flexible member is wound around the reaction pulley, and is at least partially introduced to the periphery of the reaction part of the movable shock absorbing mechanism. When pulling the handle end of the flexible member, the reaction pulley is rotated in the winding-out direction by moving the movable shock absorbing member from its resting position against biasing force of the biasing member. The pull-starter is adapted so as to operate a starting element of an engine driving apparatus, and the movable shock absorbing member is mechanically linked to the starting element.
