Title:
COMBUSTION WICK
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5780110
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent tar from being produced due to inferior fuel and lengthen the service life of the combustion wick by a method wherein a combustion part is made of heat resisting fiber with specific size so as to be able to hold large amount of fuel oil therein.

CONSTITUTION: A sucking-up wick 1 is made of cotton, lipophilic and hydrophobic chemical fiber such as staple fiber, polyprophlene or the like. A combustion wick 2 is made of woven ceramic fabric or paper-like thin ceramic cloth with the size of no more than 4 micrometers, for example 2W3 micrometers and sewed together with the sucking-up wick 1 in zigzag stitches by sewing machine. A tape 3 is adhered across the seam from outside thereof so as to give the strength and stiffness to the seam. Because the ceramic fiber with about 2W3 micrometers in size is applied to the combustion part so as to have fine capillaries capable of holding the constant amount of fuel oil therewithin even when the static suction head of the combustion part increases and as a result a plenty amount of fuel oil is held at the tip of the combustion wick 2 under any circumstances, the temperature of the tip of the combustion wick 2 is hard to become high and the decrease of production of tar is resulted.
