Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a magneto-resistance effect by impressing a bias magnetic field from an antiferromagnetic material to one magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:A Cu electrode 31 is formed by an ion beam sputtering method and ion milling method on a nonmagnetic substrate. A lower magnetic layer 32 consisting of a C alloy, an intermediate layer 33 consisting of Al2O3, an upper magnetic layer 34 consisting of a C alloy, and a antiferromagnetic mate rial layer 35 consisting of Cr are successively formed on the Cu electrode 31. Steps are then flattened by a resin and a Cu electrode 36 is formed to come into contact with the antiferromagnetic layer 35. The magnetic field is impressed in the intra-surface direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the Cu electrode by using a Helmholtz coil. A resistance change rate is increased in this way.
