To improve efficiency of the display work of commodities performed by a clerk by securing as long period as possible for a clerk to concentrate on works other than the display work.
An RFID tag 121 is fitted to the commodity 103 to be sold at the sales spot of a shop and the RFID tag 121 stores an identification code 121b for identifying RFID tags from one another. To a commodity display rack 109 on which the commodity 103 is displayed, an RFID reader 122 for reading the identification code 121b stored in the RFID tag 121 is attached. Depending on the result of reading the RFID tag 121 by the RFID reader 122, the quantity of the commodity 103 to be displayed on the commodity display rack 109 is varied. When the quantity is equal to or smaller than a prescribed alert value (such as a minimum display quantity determined to each commodity), a reporting signal causing a reporting operation from a wireless access point 119 to a PDA terminal 112 is output. A clerk 106 recognizes the timing of the display work of the commodity 103 by the reporting operation of the PDA terminal 112.
