PURPOSE: To enable commodity distributor to be used as a rental machine by using a commodity transporting means and a controller so as to transport a commodity carried in a commodity delivery into a commodity storage magazine.

CONSTITUTION: A housing 1 is provided with a commodity storage magazine 7 for storing a commodity 8 such as a commodity for video cassette to be distributed or returned and transporting means 9a, 9b, and 9c for transporting the commodity 8 bidirectionally between the magazine 7 and a commodity chute 2. The magazine 7 is constituted by a rotated table having a plurality of levels which can be rotated around a vertical spindle 14 by the means 9b, and which can be moved along the spindle 14 by the means 9c. This rotary table is controlled by a computer 10 so that the means 9a can respond to transport the commodity 8 from each storage cell to the chute 2 or from the chute 2 to the storage cell in the magazine 7. Accordingly, the commodity distributor can return a commodity without fail, and can be used as a rental machine.
