Abstract:
To provide an injection method provided with, in addition to the main injection phase, an auxiliary pre-injection phase during the induction stroke of the engine.
The pre-injection phase is preferably performed at the start of the induction stroke, and provides for injecting a small quantity of fuel equal to a few percent of the fuel quantity injected during the main injection phase, so that, during the compression stroke, partially oxidized and/or peroxidized products with a strong chemical affinity are formed by pressure rise in a cylinder, and which acts as combustion accelerators for minimizing fuel ignition lag of the main injection phase and so reducing the nitric oxides and noise produced during combustion.
