To obtain a communicating method which allows priority communication equipment to use the entire channels of a line and in which communication contents to non-priority communication equipment are not omitted at such a time by notifying the non-priority communication equipment the end of communication when the priority communication equipment finishes the communication and allowing the non-priority communication equipment to restart interrupted communication when receiving notification that the communication is over.

When a user performs off-hook while an information server device 4 transfers information to an information display board 2, a public telephone set 1 notifies the board 2 of the off-hook and the lines 6 and 7 between the board 2 and the device 4 are disconnected. Next, the user dials and performs speech communication with the telephone set 5 of the opposite communication side. Then, when the user finishes the speech communication and performs on-hook, the set 1 notifies the board 2 of the on-hook and the line 6 of the board 2 becomes free. When the device subsequently accesses for reconnection, the lines 6 and 7 are connected and information transfer is restarted.
