Title:
COMMUNICATION ANTENNA
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3473473
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reflection loss of an antenna and also to facilitate the matching to secure the desired reflection loss at a working frequency band by setting a coaxial line almost in parallel to a branch conductor and adding a transformer to the coaxial line.
SOLUTION: A 1/4 wavelength transformer 4 is placed between a radiator 5 and a coaxial line 1. The length L0 of the transformer 4 is set at λg/4 wavelength of the working frequency with the characteristic impedance of the transformer 4 set at √(Z1*Z2), respectively. Then the length L1 of a branch conductor 3 is set at λ/4 wavelength of the working frequency. In this case, λg, Z1 Z2 and λ show the intra-tube wavelength, the characteristic impedance of the line 1, the characteristic impedance of a dipole antenna and the free space wavelength, respectively. Thereby the dipole antenna itself functions as if the transformer 4 were connected between the radiator 5 and the line 1 and the operation of a branch conductor balun itself is never impeded.
