The communication apparatus A(10A) communicating with an opposite-side station via ultrasonic waves includes: a transmission section 14 which generates a communication signal and transmits the generated communication signal to the opposite-side station; a receiving section 22 for receiving a reflection signal obtained by reflecting the transmitted communication signal at the opposite-side station; a distance measuring section 20 for detecting a distance to the opposite-side station on the basis of a time from the transmission of the communication signal to the reception of the reflection signal; and a transmission power determination section 38 which controls output transmitted from the transmission section 14 in accordance with the detected distance.
