To use a communication terminal equipment without special setting of the operating mode for the communication terminal equipment in use by recognizing an operating mode of the communication terminal equipment connecting to a communication adaptor and controlling the communication terminal equipment for a terminal equipment connecting to a communication system such as a call connection sequence so as to allow one adaptor to use a plurality of kinds of communication terminal equipments.
A communication adaptor 102 is connected to an information processing unit and a communication terminal equipment via a personal computer interface 105 and a communication terminal interface 104. Then the communication system used by the communication terminal equipment is detected and the communication control is executed by the communication system in matching with the communication system detected at start of communication. In this execution form, the communication adaptor 102 makes inquiry for terminal equipment recognition to the communication terminal equipment at communication start and detects the communication system based on a reply with respect to the inquiry and conducts call control and data communication processing according to the procedure of the detected communication system.
