Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication device and image formation device that comply with a power saving operation, and enable efficient data reception.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to an image formation device comprising: image formation means that forms an image on a medium; and a communication device that externally acquires image formation data for instructing the image formation means to form the image by communication. Then, the communication device constituting the image formation device includes: communication means that is connectable to a network at any of a plurality of communication rates; power saving means that causes an external device to be directly connected at a first communication rate by the communication means to be operated at power consumption less than usual according to a prescribed power saving specification when the external device complies with the prescribed power saving specification; rate control means that switches the communication rate of the communication means to a second communication rate slower than a first communication rate when the external device does not comply with the prescribed power saving specification.
