To provide a physical-layer (PHY) monitoring control which can be applied to a communication system part not capable of performing interrupted control and which prevents decrease in throughput and loss of data.
A communication device 100 comprises a main system part 110 which performs application processing, and a communication system part 120 which performs communication processing via a physical layer. The main system part 110 detects a change in state of the physical layer. When a change in state of the physical layer is detected, the main system part 110 gives an instruction on physical-layer monitoring control to the communication system part 120. The communication system part 120 performs physical-layer monitoring control on the basis of the instruction.
