The communication equipment includes: a coherent area calculation part; a data area calculation part; an error rate estimation part; and a determination part. The coherent area calculation part calculates a coherent area according to coherent bandwidth whose propagation path characteristics of a subcarrier are within a predetermined range, and a coherent time whose variation of the propagation path characteristics is within a predetermined range. The data area calculation part calculates a data area according to data transmission time and data transmission bandwidth for each of a plurality of modulation encoding methods. The error rate estimation part estimates data error rate showing error rate of communication in the modulation encoding method whose data area is calculated based on size relation between a diversity effect to be obtained by communication using the data area and a diversity effect to be obtained by communication using the coherent area. The determination part determines the modulation coding method from among the plurality of modulation coding methods based on throughput to be calculated using the data error rate.
