PURPOSE: To provide a communication equipment and a communication method by which error is corrected at a low cost simply in the case of correcting error through the use of a BCH code.

CONSTITUTION: A header of 15-bit is added to transmission data 10 by a header addition section 54 and resulting coded data 22 are sent to a receiver side. On the other hand, a bit pattern having a bit error of 1-bit or 2-bit is stored in a header table 62 of the receiver side together with the correct bit pattern of the header of 15-bit and when the coded data 22 are received, the header is recognized while refering to the bit pattern stored in the header table 62.
