In a set top box 100, a control code is restored from a composite signal by extraction logic 120 and it is supplied to a control code transmitter 140. Extraction logic 120 restores a DV signal 60 from the composite signal and supplies the DV signal 60 to the DV output mechanism 130 of the set top box 100. At the time of an operation, a DV output port generates a signal for driving a DV output device 150 to which home television set/audio set are connected in accordance with the DV signal. The remote device 160 outputs the signal from an output mechanism 180 in response to the control code which a control code receiver 170 receives.
