Abstract:
To provide a commutator that excels in durability and a method of manufacturing the commutator, etc.SOLUTION: There is provided the method of manufacturing a commutator 14 that comprises: a commutator body 100 formed with a through-hole 101 into which a rotary shaft 13 of an electric motor 2 is inserted; and a plurality of commutator pieces 200. Each of the commutator pieces 200 includes: an exposed part 210 having an exposed surface that exposes from the commutator body 100 as a surface with which a brush 15 provided in the electric motor 2 comes in sliding contact; and an embedded part 220 embedded in the commutator body 100. The commutator 14 further comprises a first notch 231 in a middle part between one axial end 220a and the other axial end 220b of the rotary shaft 13 in the embedded part 220. In the method of manufacturing a commutator 14, the plurality of commutator pieces 200 are annularly aligned and set in an injection molding metallic mold 500 having a gate 520 at a height of position where the first notch 231 is provided, a resin 600 is injected from the gate 520 toward the commutator pieces 200 to thereby embed the embedded part 220 with the resin 600, and thus the commutator body 100 is molded.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9
