Abstract:
To provide an improved commutator for an electric motor.
The commutator 10 for an electric motor has a plurality of commutator segments supported by a base. Each segment has a conductive body portion 14 and at least one conductive foldable tongue 16 provided on the body portion 14 in order to be engaged with a winding lead wire 44 of an electric motor. The foldable tongue 16 has a near end 18 present on or near the body portion 14, and a remote end 22 separated from the near end 18. A wire receiving portion 30 is so provided on or near the foldable tongue 16 that the wire receiving portion 30 provides a predetermined gap 56 for the winding lead wire 44 when the tongue 16 is folded.
