To provide a commutator for a motor which can prevent breakdown of a varistor and deterioration of performance in assembly.

A commutator 1 is equipped with a roughly cylindrical holder 2, three commutator segments 3, a ring-shaped washer 4 for fastening and fixing the holder 2 and the commutator segment 3, and a ring-shaped varistor 5 having an electrode. This commutator is provided with a flange 2a for hooking the commutator segment 3 at the roughly center of the holder 2. The riser 7 of the commutator segment 3 is equipped with an extension 8 which has a winding part 8a and a varistor support 9 which is made integrally at the tip of the extension 8. The winding part 8a is provided outside of the peripheral face of the washer 4. The varistor support 9 is made in roughly L shape, and is positioned on opposite side of the washer 4, and further it is made so that the end face on the side of the electrode of the varistor 5 may be on a level with the winding part 8a.
