Abstract:
PURPOSE:To ensure the improvement of power factor, by detecting plural states of a load, applying this detection signal to a storage element and controlling the connection of a reactive power compensating device to a transformer via the storage element. CONSTITUTION:A power converting device contains a transformer having a primary winding N1 plus plural secondary windings N21 and N22 which are connected to an AC power supply and control rectifying circuits RF1 and RF2 which obtain an AC input through each secondary winding with their output sides connected vertically to the load, respectively. Then a reactive power compensating device PFC is connected at least to one of the two secondary windings of the transformer for such power converting device. A storage element FF which uses the signal corresponding to plural states of the load for its input signal is provided to the device PFC, and the connection to one of the secondary windings is controlled by the output signal of the element FF. For instance, the device PFC is provided to an AC type electric car using DC drive motors M1- M3.
