To obtain a compensator of single zero in which a stabilized current and a stabilized voltage can also be generated although regulation of an output regulator is stabilized voltage, and the quality of dynamic characteristics, e.g. the output density, efficiency, output regulation and transient response of the output regulator are improved.
A duty cycle estimator determines duty cycle for controlling the regulated output of an output regulator. The output regulator controls the movement of energy between an input source and the regulated output, in response to the duty cycle. The duty cycle estimator has an accumulator for determining errors accumulated over a time longer than the switching time of the output regulator. A reference generator generates a reference level. A comparator compares the accumulated error with a reference level at a maximum rate of substantially 100 times (the switching time), to generate a single zero, and then generates a duty cycle based on the comparison.
