To provide a material with sulfur having a large capacity density and serving as an active material, which does not contain a large quantity of electric conduction adjuvant, i.e., the material suitable for a positive electrode material of a high energy density battery.
A mechano-fusion of particles of sulfur and/or a sulfur compound having a S-S bonding, and fine particles of an electrically conductive material, is carried out to make the complex material of sulfur and/or the sulfur compound and the electrically conductive material, having complex fine particle layers formed by making the fine particles gnaw onto the particles. In the manufacturing method for the complex material of the invention, the mechano-fusion of the particles of sulfur and/or the sulfur compound, and the fine particles of the electrically conductive material, both as raw materials, is carried out to make the complex material of sulfur and/or the sulfur compound and the electrically conductive material, having the complex fine particle layers formed by making the fine particles gnaw onto the particles.
