To provide a component adjusting agent for sample water making it possible to accurately measure nitrogen content in the sample water even if the sample water contains interfering substances such as bromide ions or chromium ions.
This invention has the following components: [1] A component adjusting agent for sample water for water quality measurement comprising reducing sulfur oxides. [2] A component adjusting agent of [1], characterized in that the sulfur oxides comprise sulfites and/or thiosulfates. [3] A component adjusting agent of [2], characterized in that the sulfur oxides comprise one or more kinds selected from among sodium hydrogensulfite, sodium sulfite, and sodium thiosulfate.
